My first spider!

Here are some new bugs that ive been working on...................

I think they are slowly getting bigger!
Im going to sell them soon on etsy but first I want to make a large group and have them all photographed together,I think it will look really cool.
Last night I was working on one and I had to get him finished as I did'nt like the idea of him lying on my desk half finished.
I guess im one of those people who fantasise about things coming to life at night.

I know this is alittle grusome but I came across it whilst looking for insect images on the internet, isnt it amazing though.Just think how quickily the spider would have had to move to catch a bird.
It's not common place for these spiders to catch birds.

William Morris insect

Yesterday i finished making an insect in a William Morris print........
I think I like him,he does look slightly odd next to the other ones that I have made ,less threatening I guess.
Today i'm working on some scarab/dungbeetle shaped ones pictures will follow soon.

There are so many insects out there and so many different ones to make, have a look at some of these images by insect photographer Igor Iwanowicz hes amazing.
Google his work it's out of this world.

I don't think Vivienne is too impressed with the state of my workroom!

Oh dear!

Beetles,Bugs and Insects

Here are some images of some finished insects i've been working on.
These are'nt any paticular species i've taken bits of insects that I like and sort of added them together.
I think I will be more accurate with species later on when i've been doing them a bit longer.
They have been tricky to do but once you finish them and bend the legs and antennae into shape they suddenly come to life!
Each one varies in size but they are all roughly 30cm in length so they are quite big,I have real trouble making really small things, not sure why.I might start off small but I always end making things bigger.
In my head I already want to make a really big beetle about as big as a small dog!

I want to make some spiders next!

Well i've just returned from my holiday in Ibiza,im not going to bore you with images of my holiday but I thought that i would show you some images of the doors I took.
I love the colours they use and how they age showing different textures against their fittings and locks.

I found this little guy at the side of the road........

So now it's back to work and back to making things!!

I do like to sunbathe but i do get a bit restless doing nothing.......going to work on my insects now.
I think i've missed them.

Well it's still insects in the Finch workroom, they have been tricky to make but im getting quicker and better at them this is what iv'e made so far.......

This one is my best one and also my favourite one..........he's made from two tone taffeta in a teal blue.
Some of these colours are hard to capture in an image he is handsome and i think he knows hes the best one!

This is the kind of thing i will be aiming for in regards to shapes and colours ect, there are so many different ones i could be making them forever.

Once ive perfected them I will put them in my etsy shop.......

I noticed today how neat i keep my threads........unlike the rest of my workroom which is terrible!
It gets untidy but its getting silly now its just chaos.

I still have one cat that ive not introduced to you..........

This is Vivienne.......

I love this picture of him!

He is the best cat in the world,i guess everyone says that about their cats.
Vivienne was rescued and when you rescue a cat and love them i think they really know.
If you've ever got a cat like this then maybe you'll know what i mean.

He's a bit deaf i think but can hear the sound of a can of tuna opening 10 miles away.

This is Vivienne she has a little bed in my bookshelf in my workroom.........she reminds me of a hen on a nest waiting to lay an egg!

So the past couple of days ive been working on some new pieces and im really enjoying making them ......im working on some insects and bugs.
They are all made from wire and bits of plastic, jewellery pieces and vintage and new fabrics.

These are just some of my first ones, but i think there are lots of scope with these.
Imagine a wall filled with them!
Above a fireplace,a hall way or hundreds up a stairwell...............

Im going to the market today so i can buy some silks in jewel colours so i can work on some more elaborate ones.

When i get back i should have a bit of a tidy up.......things are getting messy again.
